Help me build an official U.S. Bicycle Route System!

I'm riding over 300 miles and raising money to help Adventure Cycling Association build an official U.S. Bicycle Route System, and I'm skipping my college graduation to do it!

Climate Ride does a great job of tying two incredibly important goals together: supporting efforts to make our country more sustainable, and creating awareness of the need and desire for bicycle advocacy and infrastructure. Discovering that I had the ability to travel and explore by bicycle, whether it was a few miles down the road or a few thousand, was one of the most empowering experiences I've had. I want to help inspire more people to travel by bike.

Imagine easily navigating a cross-country, regional, or local bicycle trip with friends or family, confident of your path, route, and destination. Imagine mapped and maintained cycling routes signed by state and national agencies.

U.S. Bicycle Routes are long-distance routes with official designation by the American Association of State Highway Transportation Officials (AASHTO), the same organization that designates interstate highways. The routes use existing infrastructure and are designated along carefully researched roads and trails that are optimal for bicycle travel. Routes are researched by state and local agencies and/or bicycle and trail organizations and volunteers. State departments of transportation (DOTs) apply to AASHTO for approval and numbered designation. Once approved and designated, state DOTs can work towards signing and enhancing routes according to their state bicycle plans and priorities.

Your support helps Adventure Cycling Association:
• Coordinate the route planning and AASHTO application process for 41 states.
• Conduct research on the benefits of bike tourism with hundreds of communities.
• Provide the training, education, outreach, and commitment necessary to implement the project.

With the USBRS, we will be able to go farther and explore better by bicycle — and only your help can get us there.

You can make a secure online donation today by clicking on the 'Support Me' button. You'll automatically receive an acknowledgment and I will be notified by email of your support.

Thank you for your help!
